Blood Bloom
"Amid bleeding thorns, the rose trembles: serpent, friend or foe?"
"Ematoflora" presents itself as an intense and symbolically charged work, exploring the tension between vulnerability and threat. On a glossy background, made vibrant by the use of resin, a branch of thick roses and sharp thorns supports an intense red rose, an emblem of beauty and fragility. However, this rose is wounded; red petals begin to fall, a testament to the suffering and doubt that accompany it.
On the other side of the branch, a snake climbs, evoking ambiguity and uncertainty. It is a figure that provokes both fascination and fear, leaving the rose to question its intent: will it bring salvation or further torment? The petals, in their slow and inexorable detachment, rest upon thorny branches, where they are pierced, creating a dramatic contrast between the delicacy of the rose and the harshness of the thorns. The red blood flowing from the wounded petals becomes a powerful visual and symbolic call, representing the pain that often accompanies complex and conflicting relationships.
This work invites the viewer to reflect on the duality of love and suffering, a visual narrative of vulnerability, trust, and the fine line between salvation and destruction—an emotional experience that stimulates deep introspection.
